We hope this letter finds you and your family in good health. Our community has been through a lot over the last few months, and all of us are looking forward to resuming our normal habits and routines. While many things have changed, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your safety.
We have started opening the hygiene schedules now and plan to resume with full schedules starting June 1st. If your appointment fell between the times we were closed, you were more than likely contacted to reschedule. If not, please feel free to call to reschedule your appointment.
Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice, you may have seen this during your visits to our office. Our infection control processes are made so that when you receive care, it’s both safe and comfortable. We want to tell you about the infection control procedures we follow in our practice to keep patients and staff safe.
Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health
Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.
You may see some changes when it is time for your next appointment. We made these changes to help protect our patients and staff. For example:
Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you are in the office.
We will ask that you call our office at (605) 338-9242 when you arrive. When it is time for your appointment, someone will come out and take your temperature prior to you entering the clinic.
We will ask that you come to your appointment alone if possible. If you need a driver or are bringing a child, we ask that only the patient enter the clinic and others remain in the car. We will call family/driver to let them know when the patient is ready to leave (if they need assistance from you).
We have hand sanitizer that we ask you to use when you enter the office. You will also find some in the reception area and other places in the office for you to use as needed.
You may see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys and so forth, since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect. We have also spaced the chairs 6 feet apart in case there are two or more people in the reception area at any given time.
Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients. That might mean that you’re offered fewer options for scheduling your appointment.
We will do our best to allow greater time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, our goal is to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.
We look forward to seeing you again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the steps we take to keep you, and every patient, safe in our practice. To make an appointment, please call our office at (605) 338-9242.
Thank you for being our patient. We value your trust and loyalty and look forward to welcoming back our patients, neighbors and friends. If it is time for your appointment, I would encourage you to call early as schedules are filling quickly.

At Family Dental Center, we are committed to making your dental experience one to smile about. Our Sioux Falls clinic has an amazing team of smart, friendly dentists and staff who really know how to make you feel confident in your smile.
Dr. Brienne Grossman has been supporting patients at Family Dental Center since 2012. As the practice continued to grow, Dr. Lee Gertsen and Dr. Kim Suga joined the team in 2014. All three dentists are dedicated to working with our patients to create the smiles they deserve. They carry on the mission that has been guiding Family Dental Center for more than 35 years.
Family Dental Center was established in 1981 by partners Dr. Patrick Colbert and Dr. Vincent Jones, who were then joined by Dr. Orwin Ellwein in 1986. Together they envisioned and created a people-centered dental clinic, which is why so many patients have been with us for decades. In 1992, the growing dental clinic built a new location on 45th Street in Sioux Falls, which is where the practice is located today.
